Day 17: We left New Jersey and headed towards Philadelphia to do take 2 at the Liberty Bell. We saw the Liberty Bell and Independence Hall. We then headed to Washington DC. We took a night walk and saw the Capital Building, The Washington Monument and the WW II Memorial. To go at night is so different. There are very few people and it was just so calm and peaceful. Carole's father would have loved to see the completion of the WWII Memorial. He spent many years donating to have it built but he didn't get to see the spectacular finished monument. It was touching and well worth the wait. It started to rain so we did a quick drive past the White House and back to the hotel. We are going to go back out to the sights tomorrow (we are thinking about doing one of those bus tours).
