Days 32 and 33: Kettlemen City, Ca to Redding, Ca (Mt. Shasta and back to Redding)

We left Kettlemen City and drove for just a few miles before stopping at Harris Ranch for lunch. We had some yummy steaks that definitely beat out the steak that we had in Texas! Continuing driving up I-5 in the heat (another day over 110 degrees) we stopped at a gas station in Lathrop, Ca. It was funny! It was covered with ALIENS!! (They seem to be following us since Roswell)--Turns out the owner had a friend in Special Effects in Hollywood and he decided to decorate the gas station.

A few hours later we FINALLY made it to Redding. We unpacked the car and were ready for sleep in familiar territory.

The following day, we took a quick drive up to Mt. Shasta (about an hour up and hour back) so that Natalie could go to her father's grave. Earlier in the month during the trip, it had marked 5 years since his passing. She took some flowers for him and her great-great grandparents that are buried near him.

The drive to and from the mountain was beautiful. We realized that after driving around the country, that we do live in the most beautiful place in America. Later in the evening Nathan, Rodney & Lia came by the house to see us after our long journey. Next, we have our "Family Day" on the 4th of July where we will see the rest of family.

Day 31: Las Vegas to Kettlemen City, Ca.

We spent the Morning and Afternoon Checking out more sights in Vegas. We packed the car up and then re-parked it at New York New York.

The inside of New York New York, looked like a mini NYC complete with all the Burroughs. Outside there was a Statue of Liberty with a 9/11 Memorial. We then went through the Excalibur Hotel and into the Luxor. Now that we have been to the Luxor.. we have no need to go to Egypt. The Hotel was interesting with all the Spinx and Pharaohs, but it was so dreary. Next, we caught a ride on the Monorail back to Excalibur and headed to our car.

As we left Las Vegas (we kinda did this backwards) we went to the "Welcome to Las Vegas" sign. We drove through the desert and made it back to CALIFORNIA!!--Unfortunately, the road we were taking home spilt a mile or two before the "Welcome to California" Sign. -- The ONLY sign we did not get on this trip!!

We made it to Kettlemen City where we then slept in our LAST Hotel!

World's Largest Themometer! It was over 110 Degrees that day!
